Overview of the National Certificate Vocational (NCV) Qualification

 

Duration of the Qualification

 

This qualification is a year long course and students are issued with a certificate on the successful completion of each level of study i.e. Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4.

 

NCV Subjects

 

In order to obtain a National Certificate (Vocational), a learner is required to take a total of 7 subjects. These include the 3 fundamental subjects and 4 vocational subjects

 

 

Admission Requirements for NQF Level 2

 

  • Gr 9 certificate (at least);

  • NQF Level 1 qualification;

  • RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) to meet the basic requirements for access to NQF Level 2;

Information Technology & Computer Science NQF Level 2 - 4 (OFFERED SPRINGS CAMPUSES)

Program Structure

 

NQF Level 2 (1Yr, 7 subjects)

 

Fundamentals:

  • English First Additional Language
  • Life Orientation
  • Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy

 

Core subjects:

  • Electronics
  • Introduction to Information Systems
  • Introduction to Systems Development
  • Electronic Control and Digital Electronics
  • Electronics and Digital Electronics/Basic Multimedia
 

NQF Level 3 (1Yr, 7 subjects)
