Overview of the National Certificate Vocational (NCV) Qualification

 

Duration of the Qualification

 

This qualification is a year long course and students are issued with a certificate on the successful completion of each level of study i.e. Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4.

 

NCV Subjects

 

In order to obtain a National Certificate (Vocational), a learner is required to take a total of 7 subjects. These include the 3 fundamental subjects and 4 vocational subjects

 

 

Admission Requirements for NQF Level 2

 

  • Gr 9 certificate (at least);

  • NQF Level 1 qualification;

  • RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning) to meet the basic requirements for access to NQF Level 2;

  • Participate in the construction of roads, bridges, dams, railways,
    houses, etc.
  • Take part in the design and construction of tunnels, factories, reservoirs,
    etc.
  • Participate in the erection of reinforced concrete, structural steel, timber
    and masonry structure, etc.

  • Employable in a number of different positions within the
    pulp and paper industry. The NCV 4 Process Operation
    qualification is the pulp and paper industry's preferred
    qualification for people responsible for a range of
    operations to manufacture paper products for copiers,
    newspapers, facial and toilet tissue, carton containers and
    many other paper based products.Similar to a normal, academic matric,the NCV 4 qualification also allows learners university entry after it'scompletion.
